"Indignants" gather in Syntagma Square for the third day!

For the third consecutive day despite torrential rain that was falling in the city center until a while ago, the Indignants gathered again in front of parliament.

Many young people have gathered in Syntagma Square holding signs and banners and protesting against the Memorandum and the government’s policies.

Pots and pans carried by protesters still maintained their“honorary” status, with their ever-present ruckus in front of Parliament.

Meanwhile, a group of youngsters began its own form of protest without shouting or slogans but the desire to remain on the Square for an indeterminate amount of days and nights, making assemblies and deciding about the development of the protests.

Men and women wearing white masks made a human chain around the Unknown Soldier monument and protested silently.

The first general meeting of the attendants will take place at 9pm tonight, which will decide the proceedings of the protests.

Small groups seeking popular support are already being formed, asking for food, supplies, blankets and participation.

The group which spent the night in tents on the Square became even more organized, with organizers and cleaning crews. They took great care in gathering all the trash left over by Thursday’s protests, with not even one plastic bottle littering the plaza.

Many are the tourists passing by and asking what is going on.

Earlier today, one man tried to shout famous slogans against riot police, but was quickly silenced by jeers from the rest of the crowd.

Traffic is still difficult, however, with police having blocked off Amalias avenue. Some of the protesters even tried to block off the road by themselves, shortly after 6pm.

Protothema.gr is once more in Syntagma square with a live video feed and an online live chat, while our reporters Petros Katsakos and Vasilis Dalianis are on site. Similar gatherings will once more take place in the rest of the country, while a high turnout Is also expected during the Sunday rallies.
